Key learning outcomes | The aim of the Master's degree programme Analytical Biochemist is to prepare university-educated professionals who have deep theoretical and especially practical knowledge with a focus on diagnostic approaches used in practice in biochemically or molecular biology-oriented laboratories, enabling graduates to quickly and creatively orient themselves in the given problem according to the requirements of practice, which corresponds to the needs of the labour market. The basis for the preparation of quality professionals for practice will be the strengthening of practical exercises and seminars focused on analytical diagnostic methods used in biochemical and molecular biological laboratories. The programme includes extended teaching of clinical biochemistry supplemented by basic and advanced training in clinical biochemistry with a focus on the most advanced omics methods used in diagnostic practice. The aim of the study is to enable students to develop their theoretical or practical knowledge of modern biochemical and molecular biological methods according to their own preferences by taking compulsory and elective courses. The theoretical teaching will include lectures and seminars led by experts from practice focusing on methodological, validation and accreditation aspects of laboratory operation and issues of statistics and analysis of biological data. The theoretical knowledge will be used in the implementation of extended practical training in the laboratories of the supervising workplace, by completing a long-term (at least six weeks) laboratory practice and in elaborating of a diploma thesis focused mainly on the issue of biochemical and molecular biological methods. The aim of the study is to prepare graduates with developed abilities to independently perform, evaluate and innovate laboratory analyses, with knowledge of the principles of good laboratory practice and quality management required in laboratory practice. |
