Course content
Sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) followed by western blotting. Immunochemical detection of proteins transferred on PVDF membrane. Analysis of sugars using HPLC. Analysis of biogenic amines using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. Light microscopy. Isoelectric focusing. Bioinformatic approach to protein analysis. PCR - identification of transformed bacterial colonies. Enzyme kinetics.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to teach students to implement in practice basic separation and instrumental methods used in biochemical laboratories.
Understanding the principles of methods and gaining practical experience in the implementation of basic and advanced biochemical methods.
Prerequisites
The knowledge and skills acquired by taking courses in biochemistry and biochemical methods, as well as laboratory exercises in biochemistry and laboratory techniques, are required.
