The subject deals with drug formulations, prescription, general pharmacology (pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics), pharmacology of vegetative nervous system and pharmacoogy of central nervous system (analgesics, anaesthetics, psychopharmacology and drugs used in neurology).

The student is to know drug nomenclature, principles of prescription and important drug formulations. He should be familiar with basic principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, types of drug adverse effects and interactions; from the special topics mainly the pharmacology of vegetative nervous system and central nervous system.
The student should be able to use the knowledge both in his studies of clinical subjects and in his medical profession. |

| Assessment methods and criteria |

Oral exam, Written exam
Participation in at least 11 practicals, five control written tests with results reaching at least 70% of maximum possible points. Practical skills: Students will be able to write simple drug prescriptions, choose correct drug formulations for specific cases. Practical skills are tested as part of the formative tests during the semester and at the credit exam at the end. |
