Cerebrovascular diseases - ischemic stroke, intracerebral and subarachnoid haemorrhage. CNS infections. Demyelinating disorders of the CNS. Degenerative diseases of the CNS - movement disorders, dementia. Peripheral nervous system disorders. Seizures and epilepsy, non-epileptic seizures, headache. Head and spinal cord injury. Tumours of the nervous system. Developmental disorders of the nervous system.

The subject complexly deals with the current issues in neurology and neurosurgery, including anatomy, physiology, syndromology, pathophysiology, diagnostics and treatment of the peripheral and central nervous system disorders. Anatomy, physiology of the peripheral and central nervous system. Pathophysiology, diagnostics and treatment of the peripheral and central nervous system disorders. Clinical neurological examination including patient history, syndromological and topical diagnostics, planning of complementary examinations (including the assessment of the results of laboratory, neuroradiological, neurophysiological and other tests), formulation of etiological diagnosis, therapy plan in acute and chronic neurological disorders (epilepsy, sleep disorders, cerebrovascular diseases, injuries, infectious diseases, tumours, extrapyramidal disorders, neurodegenerative diseases, headache, demyelinating diseases, paraneoplastic and toxonutritive affections of nervous system, brain oedema, hydrocephalus, unconsciousness, brain death, disorders of the peripheral nerves, spine and spinal cord, cranial nerves, autonomic nervous system, muscles, disorders of neuromuscular transmission).
The students learn about the structure, functions, structural and functional disorders of the central and peripheral nervous systems. After course completion, students will be able to implement the acquired knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of neurological patients. |
