Porozuměním pohybové aktivitě, spánku i sedavému chování během běžného týdne v rodinách můžeme odhalit vlivy vedoucí k nadváze dětí, zjistit příčiny a hledat řešení.

By understanding physical activity, sleep, and sedentary behavior during a typical week in families, we can uncover influences leading to children's overweight, identify causes, and seek solutions. The main objective of this bachelor's thesis is to contribute to the understanding of the role of the family in the movement behavior of children and their parents. The sub-objective is to use accelerometry to describe the movement behavior of children and their parents during a typical week, to assess the extent of adherence to physical activity and sleep recommendations for children and their parents, and to describe associations between the movement behavior of children and their mothers, and children and their fathers. Accelerometry and recording protocols were used to collect the necessary data. These methods were applied to 20 children and their 15 mothers and 14 fathers over one week of monitoring movement behavior. The results showed that parents are on average more physically active (68 minutes per day) than their children (18 minutes per day), also they spend more time in sedentary behavior (540-650 minutes per day) than their children (453 minutes per day), who instead spend more time in sleep (560 minutes per day) than parents (404-452 minutes per day). The results also pointed out significant differences between children and parents in fulfilling WHO recommendations on physical activity and sleep. Lastly, it was found that the time spent in sedentary behavior by mothers is positively associated with the time spent in sedentary behavior by their children (rS = 0.493; p = 0.027). These findings may have significant implications for interventions aimed at promoting healthy physical behavior in children.
