The bachelor thesis focuses on the effect of barefoot footwear on postural stability of humans. The main objective was to compare the postural stability of standing of 14 young adults walking regularly in barefoot shoes and 14 walking in conventional shoes. Other objectives of the work were to compare postural stability between groups of men and women walking in barefoot and conventional shoes and between subjects walking in barefoot shoes regularly throughout the year or only from April to October. Measurements of postural stability were performed on a force platform, on three mats of different characteristics. The results of the work show that there is a difference in the postural stability of people walking and not walking in barefoot shoes. Statistically significant differences were found on a soft, foam mat, with better stability demonstrated in people walking in barefoot shoes.
