Cílem této přehledové bakalářské práce je sumarizovat aktuální dohledané poznatky o metodách zavádění příkrmů u kojenců a batolat. Relevantní a validní zdroje k tématu byly dohledány v elektronických vědeckých databázích Pubmed, Google Scholar, Medvik. Prvním dílčím cílem je sumarizovat aktuální dohledané publikované poznatky o metodě Baby-led weaning, druhým dílčím cílem pak sumarizovat aktuální dohledané publikované poznatky o benefitech a rizicích této metody. Rizikům spojeným s metodou BLW se dá dle dostupných informací zcela předejít a benefity přikrmování prostřednictvím BLW nezasahují pouze do oblasti výživy jedince.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to summarize the current knowledge of the methods of introducing complementary feeding to infants and toddlers. Relevant and valid sources on the topic were searched in the electronic scientific databases Pubmed, Google Scholar and Medvik. The first sub-objective is to summarize the current published evidence on the Baby-led weaning method, the second sub-objective is to summarize the current published evidence on the benefits and risks of this method. The list of competences of the paediatric nurse also includes the education of parents in the area of care and nutrition of infants and toddlers. Paediatric nurses should be able to provide at least basic information on how to nourish an individual during the two periods of early childhood to promote proper growth and development and build a solid foundation for a healthy lifestyle for life. They should also know the basic principles of feeding methods, the benefits to the individual or the family, and the risks involved. The method of feeding called baby-led weaning has become popular nowadays. Despite the fact that it brings a large number of benefits, according to available information, health professionals are not in favour of it because they are concerned about the risks involved in using the BLW concept. However, this may simply be due to a lack of information about the method. The risks associated with the BLW method are, according to the available information, entirely avoidable and the benefits of BLW feeding do not only extend to the nutrition of the individual. Therefore, this paper could also serve as a supplement to current information and knowledge for pediatric nurses involved in infant and toddler nutrition.
