The aim of the diploma thesis is to examine the teachers' attitudes towards teaching English pronunciation at lower secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the diploma project is focused on the differences between Czech and English segmental and suprasegmental aspects and the importance of teaching pronunciation correctly. The hypotheses are targeted at neglecting teaching pronunciation in the lessons and textbooks usage for practising it. The outcomes are presented and analysed in the last chapter together with the conclusion.
