Course objectives:
|
ZM2 is the follow up course to ZM1 and deepens this knowledge further more. It aims to the foundation of psychological research methodology, which students apply when writing seminar papers and diploma thesis, as well as in practice (assessment or evaluation of other research publications, and also during the diagnostic process).

Requirements on student
|
Knowledge and skills are verified both by the lecturer directly during the teaching process (i.e. active questioning and student involvement) and then mainly by a written multiple-choice test verifying knowledge and understanding.
Classification outcome - credit is awarded for passing the credit test with a minimum of 70%. The examination is a comprehensive, oral examination of both semesters/courses ZM1 and ZM2, where the student answers two sets of questions from the content of both courses.

Competences acquired |
Final competencies (Student...):
- knows basic quantitative research designs such experiment, quasi-experiment, correlation studies, questionnaire surveys, etc.
- understands the main qualitative research designs, such as case studies, field research, evaluation, action research, etc.
- understands the basic principles of psychometrics and understand the concepts of validity, reliability and standardization.
- is able to use descriptive statistics (characteristics of central tendency, variability and shape of the distribution of the data sets).
- is able to describe the differences between qualitative and quantitative approaches, knows the strengths and weaknesses of both approaches.
