Course objectives:
|
The course will present to students issue of emerging forms of religion in Western society from the second half of the 20th century to the present. Students will learn about topic through the typical examples of new religious movements and reactions of their own societies to these religious groups. All these movements are also active in Czech society, but the course will also introduce specific Czech forms of new religious movements. Upon completion of the course, students will have adequate information and abilities to provide objective approach to these and other religious groups.

4.Typology of New Religious Movements, Conversion and brainwashing,
5. The emergence of New Religious Movements - counterculture
6. Movements based on Hinduism (Hare Krishna, Sri Chinmoj, Transcendental Meditation)
7. Movements based on Hinduism (OSHO-Bhagavan Rajah - Wild Wild Country)
