This diploma thesis is focused on the effect of interventions in the aquatic environment on motor competence of children with physical disabilities. The theoretical part provides an overview of findings related to the issues of physical disability, water therapy techniques, physical effects and benefits of the water environment. The overview of findings was created using professional literature and professional studies. In the practical part, a twelve-week intervention program was carried out in the aquatic environment, which took place twice a week for 45 minutes in a pool with a temperature of 28-30 °C. Two children of early school age with cerebral palsy took part in the intervention. The effect of the intervention on functional abilities in the aquatic environment was determined using the Alyn Water Orientation Test 2. To determine the effect of the intervention on gross motor skills, the results of the Gross Motor Function Measure tests were compared before and after the end of the twelve-week intervention program. The results of the work show, that the intervention in the aquatic environment had a positive impact on functional skills in the aquatic environment and gross motor skills of both research participants.
