EU enlargement is a unique process which has its specific character in relation to Western Balkan. The diploma thesis will closely look at the enlargement process in relation to Serbia, especially on the evolution of the process of implementing the EU (i. e. Acquis Communautaire). The analysis will be conducted under the umbrella of the Europeanization process, which has been over the last three decades extensively researched also in the context with candidate countries. That is why in the first chapter, the thesis presents an insight into the issue of the Europeanization process, which is then supplemented by the context and specifics in the region of the Western Balkans in the second chapter. Therefore, the thesis introduces the way in which Europeanization views the process of enlargement of the Union. In this regard, the views of two member states (Austria and the Czech Republic) on the process of Serbia's rapprochement with the Union and its membership within the EU, are compared. Because the accession process is very complex issue, presented work is focusing merely on several selected areas and it also looks closely the attitudes of Serbian actors (political actors, public etc.) to this whole process of rapprochement with the Union.
