This thesis is focused on the potential of education and community outreach in marine ecosystem conservation in the Banyak Islands in Sumatra, Indonesia. The aim is to determine effective methods of environmental education and to measure the impact of educational activities in the local community. The first part of this thesis is descriptive, and it includes characteristics of the marine ecosystem and its protection, the main development and environmental issues in the area, as well as a profound analysis of conservation educational techniques and activities. The second part of this thesis is rather practical since the author performs her own research in the archipelago of Banyak.

Diskusia sa týkala napr. dôvodov, prečo autorka nevykonala intenzívnejšiu intervenciu a opakované šetrenie alebo či by sa podobný projekt mohol realizovať v odlišnom geografickom prostredí.
