Hlavním cílem práce je popsat současný postoj čínské společnosti vůči homosexuální menšině a zároveň analyzovat, k jakým posunům došlo v této oblasti během historického vývoje. Teoretická část práce shrnuje v historickém kontextu čtyři hlavní období od prvních zmínek homosexuality v čínské literatuře, přes vývoj postoje reflektující politické změny v 19. a 20. století až po současnost. Kapitola mapující dnešní situaci seznamuje s novými trendy homosexuality, kde nechybí smluvní sňatky, mobilní seznamky a rostoucí mediální atraktivita. Praktická část práce vychází z vlastního výzkumu autora. Náhodný vzorek 640 respondentů vyplnil dotazník distribuovaný na sociální síti Sina Weibo. Doplňující video-interview přes WeChat poskytla omezená skupina 6 respondentů. K průzkumu autora motivoval zájem o problematiku a snaha porovnat dostupné teoretické informace s aktuálními fakty.

The main objective of the thesis is to describe four main historical periods; the first known mention of homosexuality in Chinese texts until the late Qing dynasty; period of the late Qings until the establishment of the People's Republic of China (PRC) in 1949; PRC until 1980s; the era from 1980's and milestones in 1997 and in 2001 until today. The description will compare each periods as well as show how the situation in China from this perspective is changing. Moreover, I will aim to compare the situation of how homosexuality is perceived in Chinese first-tier cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen) and in the rural parts with reference to discrimination, family relationships and marriages. The aim of the last part is to compare the theoretical part with the practical part which will be based on the analysis of the interviews I conducted and questionnaire I spread amongst the Chinese LGBT community by using social platforms such as Sina Weibo and Wechat. The case study on a random sample of more than 600 people all around China was performed from March, 2016 until June, 2016. In this part, I will aim to prove or deny certain facts about the current situation in China from the perspective of the homosexual population.
