V teoretické části se věnuje problematice kontaminace vody arsenem v Bangladéši, snižování jejích následků a jakou roli v něm hraje komunita.

The thesis qualitatively evaluates a local arsenic mitigation initiative of a non-governmental organization in Bangladesh from the perspective of recipients. First, it deals with arsenic contamination and mitigation and the role of a community within it. It describes the concept of community development and its context. Then, it analyses the perspective of the recipients through Sustainable Livelihoods Framework and translates the findings into the recommendations in terms of community development. The examined initiative was sucessful in mitigating arsenic contamination to the minimum level and is an example of good practice in following the principles of learning, compassion, adaptability, and simplicity. However, there is a lot to be done in terms of community development.
