Course objectives:
To introduce students with selected leading scientists of worldwide significance in plant physiology who made key discoveries in this research area. The aim of this topic is to demonstrate students that even plant physiology, very often wrongly neglected area of plant research, is full of significant discoveries, which have impact in other scientific fields. The objective of the topic is to prepossess students for interest in scientific work in plant physiology. Also, this topic is addressed to students with high interest in plant physiology or in similar plant topics, and it could therefore complement topics such as Plant physiology (LRR/FZRSB) and Signaling pathways and membrane transport (LRR/SIGDT).
Requirements on student
Colloquium. To pass the colloquium, students have to attend at least 50% of lectures and they havet suggest a personality from plant physiology research area, who has not been mentioned in the lectures so far.
Content
To show students scientific work and life of selected worldwide recognized scientists, authors of important discoveries in plant physiology who are leaders in their area of research. The list of the persons of consequence will be updated at the beginning of semester.
