Course objectives:
Within this course students will learn the ground penetration radar (GPR) history, theory, data processing and different applications (geological, geographical, civil engineering, archaeology etc.) in and various conditions. In the practical part of this course students will learn how to collect and process the GPR data.

Content
1. Theoretical part - GPR history - Electromagnetic waves origin and propagation - GPR signal recording, reflection trace, two-way travel time, amplitudes - Wave propagation, GPR antenna frequencies, electric conductivity, magnetic permeability and relative dielectric permittivity - GPR antennas and systems and their utilization - Types of GPR reflections, effect of different site conditions - Data processing - 2D profiles - common and advanced filtration steps and interpretation - Velocity analysis - reflected wave, direct wave, RDP measurement, hyperbola geometry - 3D data processing - software and possibilities in 3D data imaging and interpretation - GPR applications - geology, geomorphology, archaeology, civil engineering, forensic science, geohazards, water management ? 2. Practical field measurement and data collecting with MAL? Ground Explorer and different antennas (80, 450, 750 MHz). - Application of theoretical knowledge in practice - Short field trips and data collecting 3. Data processing - Software processing and interpretation of collected data and data provided by lector.
