Course objectives:

The aim of the course is to present main global problems (environmental crisis, migration, the clash of the civilizations, the erosion of the democratic institutions) in the historical context.

Content
|
We will analyze how the problems mentioned above contributed to the collapse of major civilizations, states, and empires of the past and present also the positive examples in the course of history, how such situations could be avoided. The course will be based on lectures, reading historical documents (in English translation), films, and presentations.
