Competences acquired |
The students should be able to: - explain the principles of hydraulics and underground hydraulics, laws controlling the behavior of fluids. - recall the content of terms like viscosity and surface tension, laminar and turbulent flow, porosity, permeability, Darcy's law, free and artesian water level. - explain the essentials of hydrology and principal laws of hydrogeology. - define the systems of hydrogeological zones with examples. - explain the content of terms underground water abstraction, collection objects, pumping regimes - classify underground waters on the base of their chemical composition, characterise possible contaminants. - explain the relations between the quality of precipitations, of surface and underground waters, define self-purification of underground waters. - characterize biological and chemical contamination of waters and the impact of individual factors. - describe the concept of hygienic protection zones of underground waters - identify possible sources of contamination of underground waters by industry, agriculture, transportation, building , applied waste disposal and raw mineral mining. - characterize methods of contamination prevention, and sanitation procedures on examples from central Moravia and the whole Czech Republic.
