Course content
Synthesis of knowledge about prevention of caries, relapse of caries, damage to dental pulp, techniques of assessment of the risks. Additional preventive programmes for risk and handicapped patients. The role of a hygienist. Alternative methods of treatment of hard dental tissues defects. Practical training in diagnostics of caries lesions, including x-ray examination, modification of hygiene, burnishing of fillings, and treatment of non-complicated caries.

Learning outcomes
Principal issues in prevention and prophylaxis in dentistry. Oral health and its relation to the overall health state, the most frequent pathological changes in mouth cavity, caries and periodontal diseases. Lectures are focused on prevention in individual fields of dentistry. In practical trainings students learn about examination, professional oral hygiene and treatment of dental caries.
Fundamental practical skills in diagnostics of caries, modification of hygiene, and treatment of non-complicated caries.

Knowledges of previous subjects.
