Course content
The entire issue of gastroenterology at the level of undergraduate education. Students are introduced to individual diseases of the mentioned internal specializations, i.e. their etiopathogenesis, clinical and laboratory findings, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. The content also includes the basics of differential diagnosis of the mentioned disease states.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to master the diagnosis, treatment and prognostic evaluation of internal diseases in the field of gastroenterology. Based on the history and physical examination, the student learns how to make a working diagnosis and develop a strategy for further examination procedures to establish a definitive diagnosis. The student will also be required to develop a treatment plan and comment on short-term, long-term prognosis and survival. The second component of this course is the general principles of nutrition with a focus on nutritional disorders in gastrointestinal and biliary diseases.
By acquiring the above-mentioned skills, the student fulfills the requirements of the field of gastroenterology to complete a 10-week internship before the state exam in Internal Medicine, the main purpose of which is verification of student?s mastering of the differential diagnostic process in internal medicine.
