Course content
Content of the course is 1 week training at Department of Surgery I (contains practise at Dept. of Traumatology, Central intensive care unit and Plastic Surgery Department), 1 week training at Department of Surgery II (Vascular and Transplantation Surgery, contains practise at Dept. of Cardiac Surgery) and 2 weeks training at contractual surgical department. During the practical training students take part in ward rounds, cooperate with surgens at outpatient department and assist surgical procedures under teacher's supervision. At the end of the surgical block students attend 1 week of consultations (lectures) with teachers on specific surgical topics.

Learning outcomes
Improvement of theoretical and practical basics of general, abdominal, thoracic, vascular, plastic, and cardiac surgery. The course prepares students to pass the state rigorous exam.
The acquired theoretical and practical knowledge enables students to orientate themselves in surgical problems in patients in whose treatment they will participate after graduation from the Faculty of Medicine, or forms the basis for future specialization in the surgical field.
Prerequisites
Good theoretical and practical knowledge of general surgery and individual surgical specialisations (abdominal, thoracic, vascular, plastic surgery, traumatology, cardiothoracic surgery) within the scope of the previous Surgery 1 block.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Dialog, Systematic Observation of Student

Active participation in consultation and practice. During the practical training, the student is continuously evaluated on how he/she has mastered the examination of the surgical patient and how he/she is able to apply the acquired knowledge of general and special surgery. The teaching block is followed by an oral state rigorous examination with a final assessment of knowledge.
