Course content
Surgery: 1. Basics of surgical technique, surgical instruments, practical training of suturing and knotting (simulators). 2. Treatment of traumatic wound, fracture reposition, methods of bone fixation. 3. Clinical examination of orthopedical patient, patient chart, evaluation of X-ray examinations, joint puncture. Pediatrics: 1. Taking medical history - child, adolescent, legal representative. 2. Examination of children at different ages (newborn, infant, toddler, school age, adolescent). 3.Assessment of growth and development (including psychomotor development in the youngest age groups).

Learning outcomes
The content of the course includes the basics of propedeutics in surgical disciplines and pediatrics. Surgical lessons contain practice of basic surgical skills - suturing, knotting, treatment of traumatic wound, fracture bone fixation. The aim of pediatric propedeutics is to teach students to understand pediatrics as a developmental medicine with its typical preventive character. The aim is to acquire basic skills for communication with patients and their legal representatives during taking a history (professionalism and humanity) and to learn the basic differences between examination of children at different ages and examination of adults.
Practical knowledge of basic surgical skills (suturing, knotting). Aquired surgical knowledge is a basis for subsequent lessons in surgical disciplines. Pediatrics - clinical examination skills in children and adolescents.

Prerequisite for commencing study of Introduction to Clinical Medicine 2 is successful completion of Introduction to Clinical Medicine 1 and knowledge of clinical examination of adult patients in internal medicine.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Analysis of Activities ( Technical works), Dialog

Active participation in practical training and seminars. Ongoing evaluation of the student's mastery of the surgical and pediatric patient examination.
