Key learning outcomes The aim of the Nanomaterial Chemistry program is to prepare graduates with a special focus on the chemistry of nanomaterials, equipped not only with the necessary theoretical knowledge, but also with practical skills for study, preparation, functionalization and characterization of nanostructured materials. The graduate thus has a broad base covering the synthesis, functionalization and characterization of materials as well as knowledge of a wide range of characterization techniques (microscopic, spectroscopic, magnetic, thermal etc.). They will also acquire knowledge in the field of application of materials and nanomaterials in practice, especially in environmental technologies, medicine, biotechnology or energy production and storage. The graduate should be able to apply this knowledge in practice within independent activities in the area of research, development and production of nanomaterials. The Nanomaterial Chemistry program prepares university-educated specialists with good knowledge of physical and material chemistry, able to apply knowledge in basic and applied research, but also in selected technological areas. Therefore, the study is focused not only on the graduate's thorough theoretical readiness for material research, but also on strengthening his/her ability to translate the acquired theoretical knowledge into practice, which he/she should acquire especially in specialized exercises, diploma thesis as well as during industrial excursions and specialized laboratories dealing with material technologies. Another aim is to equip the graduate with the ability to communicate high-level professional problems in Czech and English. The topics of students' final theses, including the evaluation of their presentation as part of the state final examination, will be focused on the stated educational objectives. The graduate of this two-year master's study program thus acquires, in addition to the necessary overview through basic chemical and physical disciplines, a highly requested professional specialization in the field with long-term favorable development related to extraordinary development of nanotechnologies and modern materials in scientific and industrial practice.
