The objective of the course is to introduce the morphological system of contemporary standard Czech to international students from both theoretical and practical perspectives. The course aims to clarify the principles of the internal structure of Czech words (derivational and inflectional levels) and the functioning of nominal and verbal grammatical categories. Special attention is paid to problematic, doublet, and less regular morphological phenomena. The course intends to develop students' linguistic thinking, their ability to independently analyze real language data, and to apply theoretical knowledge in detailed morphological text analysis.
Student is able to conduct morphological and morphemic analysis of Czech words, identify grammatical categories, and apply theoretical linguistic concepts to practical language data analysis.
