Course content
Introduction. Basic terms in pathology. Necrosis, gangrene, atrophy. Derrangement of metabolism of proteins, lipids and sugars. Calcification. Pathological pigmentation. Nonspecific inflammation and specific inflammation. Pathology of the immune system. Aetiology diseases, ilustrations of bacterial, viral, mycotic and parazitic diseases. General oncology: mesenchymal tumors,epithelial tumors, neuroectodermal tumors, composite tumors, teratomas. Pseudotumors. Preneoplasia. Circulatory disorders. Pathology of the heart and vessels. Atherosclerosis. Pathology of the respiratory tract. Pathology of the gastrointestinal tract, pathology of the liver, biliary tract and pankreas. Pathology of the uropoetic tract. Pathology of the genital tract. Pathology of the central nervous system. Pathology of the skin. Pathology of the musculosceletal system.

Learning outcomes
Introduction to morphologic correlates of organs and tissues changes, particularly to specific aspects related to the field of study.
Student will be able to apply acquired knowledge in diagnostic-therapeutic practise.
Prerequisites
Passing this course of Pathology requires knowledge of anatomy and physiology at a basic level.

Attendance at seminars and practicalities is compulsory. Knowledge of general and special pathology is required to the extent discussed in lessons.
