Course content
|
Introduction, definition of requirements for granting a colloquium. The importance of first aid, the system of first aid (non-professional, medical, technical), first aid legislation. first aid procedure, examining basic physiological functions (respiration, circulation, consciousness ? quantification and qualification assessment). first aid for respiratory arrest or impairment (foreign body in the airways, out of breath, arrest). first aid for circulation arrest, indirect heart massage (in adults, small children, infants), cardiopulmonary resuscitation. first aid for bleeding (arterial ? pressure points, pressure bandage, tourniquet use; venous, capillary, mixed; internal; bleeding from body orifices). first aid for head injuries and injuries of spine and spinal cord (commotion cerebri, contusion). Bandaging technique, using available types of dressing materials (patches, roller bandages, slings, etc.). First aid for injuries of bones and joints (sprain, dislocation, fractures ? closed, open, splintery). first aid for damage to a body through heat effects (sunstroke, heatstroke, burns, frostbites, hypothermia, etc.). First aid for injuries caused by electric current. First aid for drowning. Acute conditions ? epileptic seizure and other convulsive conditions, asthma attack, hypo and hyperglycaemic conditions. Acute conditions - MI, stroke, acute abdomen.

Learning outcomes
|
After completing the course, students should be able to: - Assess the situation in case of accidents and sudden health disorders in children, - Call an ambulance - The person in the correct position due to its sudden injury or damage to health, - Provide first aid for unconsciousness, bleeding, shock, - Diagnose the need to start resuscitation and actively performed, - To treat wounds, fractures, open and closed chest injuries and abdominal - Provide first aid for head and spinal injuries, cases of acute poisoning and sudden health disorders (epilepsy, asthma, diabetes).
After completing the course, students are able to understand the basics of first aid and adequately provide first aid including basic resuscitation.

|
Oral exam
active participation in tutorials, 90% attendance of tutorials The course is designed exclusively for students of Health Education with a focus on education in combination.
