Course content |
Process of the Infection spread. Sources, pathways of transfer, perceptive person. Characterisation of the Infection epicentres. Impacts and factors influencing the epidemic process. Epidemiology of transferable diseases. Epidemiologic investigations, preventive actions. An overview on selected infectious diseases known in our country - reparative, alimentary, contact, zoonotic diseases and intoxications. Epidemiology of transmissive diseases. Problems of an early diseases and veneric infections. Epidemiology of an environment. Major groups of non-infectious diseases: tumours, cardiovascular and respiration diseases in relationship with severe factors of the environment. Preventive actions.

The course is focused on bacterial infections and the spread of epidemics.
Student should be able to (after attending the course): - Recall terminology in Epidemiology. - Explain the process of infection spread and factors influencing the process. - Describe practical experiences and application of investigation in epicentres. - Describe preventive/repressive actions in relation to Czech legislation. - Recall examples of selected infectious and non-infectious disease and possibilities of prevention. |

The epidemiology course builds on other courses in previous grades (physiology, toxicology).
