Course content

1. Environmental protection. The role of law in environmental protection. Development of environmental protection in international, European and national consequences. The concept of sustainable development. 2. Environmental law - basic terms, subject matter, system of environmental law, sources of environmental law. 3. Principles of environmental law. 4. Constitutional foundations of the environmental law in the Czech Republic. 5. Instruments of environmental protection. 6. Conceptual instruments of environmental protection, SEA 7. Administrative instruments of environmental protection 8. Economic instruments of environmental protection 9. Environmental information. 10. Legal responsibility in environmental law. Sanctions as an instrument of environmental protection. 11. The role of courts in environmental protection 12. Overview of special environmental law.

Learning outcomes
|
The purpose of the course is to provide with information about general Environmental Law in the abstract theoretical level and on concrete practical cases as well. It also comprises historical, international and European consequences. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge and skills to use special legal regulation of Environmental Law that they shall mostly meet in praxis.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Seminar Work
It is essential that those students who would like to get the credit must have attendance at these seminars, they have to complete the tasks assigned by the seminar leader and they must be successful at the written test. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
