Course content
1. Social security, welfare state, social policy, social events. 2. Principles and instruments of social security. 3. Sickness insurance I.: general terms and fundamental principles, benefits provided under sickness insurance, range of insured persons. 4. Sickness insurance II.: terms of participating in sickness insurance. 5. Pension insurance I.: general terms and fundamental principles, range of insured persons. 6. Pension insurance II.: classes of pensions, pension scheme, pension formula. 7. Organization of the administration in the sector of sickness and pension insurance. 8. Proceedings in the sector of sickness and pension insurance. 9. Premiums on social security and contributions on state policy of employment. 10. Subsistence: use of subsistence. 11. State social assistance: features and aims of the state social assistance. Organizational aspects. 12. Social welfare claims: principles of the social welfare, dues and services of the social welfare. Organizational aspects. 13. European social security law

Learning outcomes
The course deals with principles of the social security regulation first. It provides with information about all three pillars of the social security that the state provides for the individuals - social insurance (pension insurance, sickness insurance and health insurance), state social assistance and social welfare claims. It also deals with organizational and procedural aspects of this sector of public administration. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this course will gain the knowledge and skills necessary for the orientation in the system of social security. The course provides the students with capability to consider individuals' claims and to conduct the procedure in the position of administrative authority or to defend client's claims in the position of an attorney.
Prerequisites
Completion of this course is not conditional upon completion of any other course.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

Credit: - Activity at the seminars (1-2 points), - Facultative present a paper (1-2 points), - Final written test (points for activity and paper are included). Examination - written exam The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
