Learning outcomes
Within the scope of the Methodology of qualitative and quantitative research students will first explain the differences in scientific and research procedures in relation to the research paradigm, followed by general and specific methods of scientific work (methods of approach, methods of data collection, methods of data analysis and methods of data interpretation) and principles of communication in science and research. The student will understand why quantitative research uses hypotheses and their testing and why we use research questions in qualitative research. He will be able to determine for which topics a certain research approach is appropriate and why. The emphasis will be put on validating both research approaches and explaining why this is not the case with the reliability of research procedures. Based on the understanding of paradigmatic approaches, the meaning of methodological triangulation in the mixed type of research will be explained. Types of secondary research, including their level of relevance, will be discussed.
After passing the subject, the student will be able to methodologically grasp the chosen topic and methodologically correct it in relation to the chosen paradigm.
