Course content
1. Types of written papers at universities with health care; 2. Ethical principles of scientific work, including publishing activities; 3. Legal aspects of the diploma thesis - copyright and their legal regulation; 4. The topic of the written work and how to choose it; 5. Head of the diploma thesis and the process of awarding and conducting of the diploma thesis; 6. Description of the problem and setting the main goal of the work; 7. Key words and sample research; 8. Analysis of the relevance of the search results; 9. Basic database of information resources and citation software and work with them; 10. Citation, paraphrases, plagiarism, anti-plagiarism programs; 11. Developing the main goal and setting a timetable for work; 12. Bibliographic quotes in the text, internal quotes, and sources of information.

Learning outcomes
Within the subject of the Diploma Seminar 1 the students are acquainted with the basic types of written works and other forms of written expressions and with the ethical aspects of diploma theses. In the subject the whole preparatory stage of the diploma thesis is thoroughly discussed and practiced including: selection of the topic, process of assigning the topic of the thesis and instructions for work with the supervisor of diploma thesis, determination of the aim of work, schedule of work, including searching of information sources, the framework of information in qualitative research, a detailed overview of the results obtained so far in quantitative research. In addition, students are trained in search and literary review procedures, including knowledge of citation standards and types of programs enabling the creation of electronic libraries by software editing of citation styles. They are shown practically the possibility of referring in the text, explaining the differences between the quote and the paraphrases.
Upon completion of the course the student will be able to describe various types of written work and their purpose, to respect ethical and legal publishing standards, to design or select a topic of work, to set objectives and timetable of diploma thesis, to carry out research activities and to compile its results in the thesis.

The presentation of thesis objects - each student orally presents goals and theoretical starting points of his diploma thesis (from the submitted text - at least 10 pages).
