1) the role of the physician according to Talcott Parsons (professionalism, affective neutrality, collective orientation, universalism), Hippocrates as a model for physicians of Western medicine, including an explanation of the ethical principles arising from the Hippocratic Oath, the role of the physician according to the Code of Ethics of the Czech Medical Association and Act No. 372/2011 Coll, on health services, practice with students the ethical principles of the first decision according to Beauchamp and Childress and the ethical principles of procedure, explaining the role of the patient according to the type of compliance with the doctor, demonstrating approaches to patients with different multicultural characteristics; 2) the importance of professional doctor-patient communication, including communication with patients with special needs, b) methods and strategies for communicating with a blind patient, c) methods and strategies for communicating with a deaf patient, d) the methods and strategies of communication with a mentally disabled patient, e) the necessary principles when communicating important information, including communication with a patient in palliative care, f) the specifics of communication with the patient's family, g) practical training in various communication methods and techniques; training in specific intercultural communication between linguistically and/or culturally different members of ethnic, national, racial and religious communities. Emphasis will be placed on culturally sensitive specific national and ethnic customs in the context of health care and explaining the issue of racism and its specific form of antigypsyism to ensure equal access of Roma to quality health care and social services; 3) self-study - students in groups (2-3 students) choose a case study from the etiquamedika.cz website, which they process in terms of ethical, legal and medical aspects on the basis of questions prepared in advance by the lecturers. The presentation of the case studies will be the basis for an interactive colloquium.

Active participation in practical exercises, completion of tasks in seminars, 100% participation, knowledge of professional communication between doctor and patient, including communication with patients with specific needs, ability to communicate in small groups about ethical decisions in difficult medical situations. Interactive oral colloquium based on individual study of ethically challenging case studies from medical practice (www.etikamedika.cz). |
