Course content
1. Subject matter of Health Psychology 2. Health and illness 3. Psychological issues associated with illness 4. Patient´s understanding of their illness, approach to their illness, restriction of living needs 5. Autoplastic image of illness, changes in perceptions and behaviour during illness 6. Pain, fear and anxiety in illness 7. Psychosomatic care, somatoform disorders 8. Thanatology, palliative and hospice care 9. Compliance 10. Placebo response 11. Personality of a helathcare professionaů, relationship between medical staff and the ill 12. Psychological problems of patients associated with individual diseases

Learning outcomes
The subject is designed as theoretical and practical. It focuses on patients´ psychology problems, on better understanding patients´ needs and problems associated with their health condition. Health Psychology deepen knowledge required for professional management of strenuous situations accompanying care of the ill, disabled and dying persons.
Students are acquainted with psychological problems associated with illnesses, psychsomatic care, they are able to apply their knowledge in model situations.

Oral examinations (in groups) at the end of the term. Individual work and its presentation.
