Course content
Midwife will perform the following tasks: -Physical examination of the new-born, evaluation of its vital functions -Evaluation of pain manifestations in the new-born with the help of available scales - Assess the risk of skin damage - Clean the airways of the new-born with the endotracheal cannula - Assist in introducing a gastric tube, verifying its position, feeding the baby with a tube - Provide nutrition of new-born by alternative techniques - Perform catheterization of the bladder of the new-born of the female sex - Assist in ensuring that the new-born's airway passes through the endotracheal cannula - Secure the new-born's airways through the endotracheal cannula on the model - Bath a new-born in an incubator, on an open heated bed - Educate parents about the prevention of SBS, SIDS, NAS

Learning outcomes
The aim of the practical training is to prepare a midwife to implement the theoretical knowledge into practice of providing highly specialized care for new-borns in the intensive care unit and the department of the intermediate neonatal care.
After completing the practical training, the student will be able to provide a highly specialized nursing care for the new-born in the NICU and the department of intermediate neonatal care.
