Course content
1. Definition of developmental psychology, its aims and tasks, application possibilities Historical overview and notable personalities of developmental psychology 2. Concept of development, basic forms, factors and mechanisms of development. Principles and models of development 3. Methods of developmentally psychological examination 4. Theories and periodization of development. 5. New theories: life-span and ecosystem concepts 6. Plasticity of development, resiliency 7. Prenatal period and its importance for further development 8. Lying on a continuum of life before and after birth 9. Newborn period 10. Premature and immature children - specific problems 11. Infancy 12. Toddler period- main developmental trends 13. Characteristics of the pre-school period

Learning outcomes
Introduce students to the problems of developmental psychology in such way that they will be able to acquire insight into human development and understand the importance of developmental changes for psychological work.
Adopt a developmental approach in the psychological work, to know the particularities of a specific age and developmental tasks of each period.

Mark, Written exam

Elaboration of written paper for academic year 2018-2019 (see EDIS.UPOL). Attendance. The deadline for submitting the correspondence task via EDIS system: at the latest by 22. 4. 2019. Without the correspondence task approved by the evaluator students are not permitted to proceed to trial.
