Course content
1. Definition of developmental psychology, its aims, application possibilities, historical overview and notable personalities of developmental psychology 2. Concept of development, basic forms, factors, mechanisms and principles of development 3. Theories of development, classical developmental theories, focus on new theories: life-span and ecosystem concepts 4. Research strategies, research ethics 5. Plasticity of development, resiliency 6. Prenatal period and delivery, its importance for further development 7. New-born period 8. Premature and immature children - specific problems 9. Infancy 10. Toddler period - main developmental trends 11. Characteristics of the pre-school period

Learning outcomes
Introduce students to the problems of developmental psychology in such way that they will be able to acquire insight into human development and understand the importance of developmental changes for psychological work.
To adopt a developmental approach in the psychological work, to know the particularities of a specific age and developmental tasks of each period.

Attendance - 100% active participation in classes (possibility of substitution in full-time study after agreement with the teacher). For medical or serious family reasons, only absence from 1 teaching block can be excused upon presentation of a confirmation! Self-study of selected topics, preparation of worksheets (available in Moodle), continuous assignments for classes. Examination by test.
