Course content
- The beginnings of modern science, rationalism: Descartes, Spinoza, Leibniz, Wolff - British empiricism and associationism: Locke, Berkeley, Hume, Hartley, J. S. Mill - French enlightenment - German classical philosophy: Kant, Herbart, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche - Prepositions for founding of the new science of psychology. Positivism, Darwin's theory of evolution. Progress in the 19th century physiology, neurology, and psychophysics - Founders of psychology: Wundt, Galton, Ebbinghaus, James - Empirical and experimental psychological schools at the turn of the 19th century - Philosophical influence in psychology: Dilthey, Brentano, Stumpf, Husserl

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Projection (static, dynamic)
  • Homework for Teaching - 50 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
Presentation of the psychological ideas within the framework of modern European philosophy (from René Descartes to Friedrich Nietzsche); preconditions for the birth of independent psychology, its founders (Wundt, Galton, Ebbinghaus, James). Teaching is aimed at improving the participation and critical thinking of students
Basic orientation in the history of psychology including its philosophical roots.
