Course content
01. What is language? - definition, theory of the origin of language. 02. Introduction to psycholinguistics. Semiotics. 03. Language and meaning. 04. Anatomical prerequisites for language use. 05. Introduction to neurolinguistics. 06. Language and thinking. 07. Inner speech. 08. Language acquisition from the point of view of developmental psychology 1. 09. Speech acquisition from the point of view of developmental psychology 2. 10. Bilingualism. 11. Language and culture. 12. Gender and Language. 13. Application of knowledge of psycholinguistics within selected psychotherapy schools.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming)
  • Attendace - 24 hours per semester

  • Preparation for the Exam - 10 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to study basic psycholinguistic concepts and problems. Students will be taught about language acquisition processes, neurological foundations of language and speech functioning, as well as cultural and gender specificities that manifest themselves in language. The knowledge gained will be connected with some aspects of psychotherapy practice in the final lesson.
The knowledge of basic linguistic and psycholinguistic concepts.
Prerequisites
Selected questions of the general psychology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Didactic Test, Seminar Work

Seminary work (at least 3 pages) on the topic from the area of psycholinguistics and the exam based on knowledge of subject matter.
