Course content
Annotation - topics: Partitioning of drugs - by origin, by action, according to the ICD 10th Addictions without substance. Stages of development in the use of drugs. Risks and harmful consequences of use. Statistics and research in Addictology, current trends. Drug policy and system of care in Czech Rep. Primary prevention. Low-threshold services. Treatment programs. After-treatment programs (aftercare). Reflections on effectiveness of services, negative views of society, ethical aspects of working with drug users. Practical experience and case work in the prevention and the treatment.

Learning outcomes
The main aim of the course Adiktologie 2 is to familiarize students with the issue of illegal drugs and drug addiction. Students are introduced to most common addictive substances used in the CR, the dynamics of development of non-alcoholic addiction, the care system for drug users in the CR and the up-to-date knowledge, trends and research in the field. Furthermore, also experience in drug prevention and harm reduction field is discussed (primary, secondary and tertiary prevention). Finally, there are presented treatment and after-treatment possibilities in this subject.
Students gain up-to-date knowledge in the addictology field. They become familiar with basic concepts of this discipline, drug epidemiology and the system of care for drug users in the Czech Rep. During lessons students uncover the most common myths about non-alcoholic drugs. They practise clinical and case management approach during the writing of thematic case history report.
Prerequisites
The course is optional (Category B). Prerequisites: subject Adiktology 1 (PCH/AD1A)

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Seminar Work

Condition for the final examination is formulation of the case history report of the client dependent on drugs or having problems with gambling, etc. The report must have at least two sides of A4. This case report is then discussed with the teacher during an oral exam. Further details, requirements and deadlines are communicated in the initial tutorial.
