Course content
|
The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the basic structural and functional changes of cells and tissues that underlie disease. These changes are defined by some basic terms: postmortem changes, regressive or progressive changes, metabolic changes, inflammation, immunopathological processes etc. The content of the oncopathological part is familiarization with the general mechanisms of tumor formation, the histogenetic division of tumors and the principles of their histological and molecular diagnostics.

Learning outcomes
|
The main aim of pathology is study of causes, pathogenesis and morphology of diseases. Moreover, with relation to these general aspects of diseases, the students learns basic medical termi- and tissues that underlie disease. The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic structural and functional changes in cells and tissues during the development of diseases.
The student will learn about the causes, pathogenesis and morfology of the diseases and will be able to implement knowledge of pathology into consequent clinical subjects and into diagnostic-therapeutic process.

Prerequisites
|
Appropriate knowledge from theoretical subjects, as anatomy, histology, biology, physiology, microbiology, genetics and immunology.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
The required attendance to practical seminars - a student is allowed to miss maximum one seminar. Student ´s preparedness for seminars will be continuously tested orally or in writting. Unprepared students will be excluded from seminars. If a student fails to attend classes due to health or other serious reasons, they must attend substitute classes provided they have provided a satisfactory excuse. A maximum of two practical seminars may be made up for. Whether the reason stated is serious enough and excusable shall be determined by the respective teacher.
