Systematic work with texts of different character. The texts are taken mostly from Czech press production (MF Dnes, Ekonom, Respekt e.a.). 1. About translation in general 2. Translation strategies 3. Lexical level of translation 4. Coherence, intertextuality, introversion, continuousness, intentionality, interactivity 5. Grammatical level of translation 7. Functional styleys 8. Translation of EU texts

Learning outcomes
|
The course gives the student an insight into the problems of language transfer from Czech into Dutch, with a focus on typical translation failures.
Students acquire advanced translation skills by translating journalistic genre with a wide scale of themes. Students apply functionalistic translation procedure. Students improve time limited translation performance.

Prerequisites
|
Knowledge of Czech language at the CEFR level C1 and of Dutch language at the level B2.

Mark, Written exam, Analysis of linguistic, Systematic Observation of Student, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio, Seminar Work
During the term 6 to 8 texts will be given to the students to analyse and to discuss from a translatologic point of view. A part of the texts should be prepared by the students as homework. Presence during the course is necessary.
