Course content
This course deals with the problems concerning Dutch phraseology, primarily from the contrastive point of view with the Czech phraseology. Among others there is a description of the position of the phraseology within the range of linguistic disciplines provided in this course. The students learn about various types of fixed phrases (vaste verbindingen in Dutch), the ways of their classification, description and translation into the Czech language. Special attention is being paid to proverbs (spreekwoorden in Dutch), comparisons (vergelijkingen), non-verbal phraseological units and the so-called binominals (tweelingformules). All these types are being analysed primarily from the point of view of contrastive phraseology. The students will also get familiar with various frequently used Dutch phraseological units and will learn how to correctly incorporate them into the context. 1. Learning outcomes
This course is designed to provide the students with an overview concerning the role of phraseology within the framework of linguistic disciplines. The students learn about various types of fixed phrases (vaste verbindingen in Dutch), the ways of their classification, description and translation into the Czech language. Special attention is being paid to proverbs (spreekwoorden in Dutch), comparisons (vergelijkingen), non-verbal phraseological units and the so-called binominals (tweelingformules). All these types are being analysed primarily from the point of view of contrastive phraseology. The students will also get familiar with various frequently used Dutch phraseological units and will learn how to correctly incorporate them into the context. In the lecture attention will be vowed to the problems of Dutch phraseology in comparison with Czech phraseology. The students will get a survey of the position of phraseology within linguistics, of several types of fixes phrases, their classification, description and translation into Czech. Special attention is vowed to proverbs, comparisons, non-verbal phraseologisms and the so-called binominalia, above all from the view point of contrastive phraseology. The students will learn the most used Dutch phraseologisms and how to use them in the context.
Expanding the knowledge of lexical units with various types of phraseological units, providing an insight look in the ways of describing phraseological units.
Prerequisites
Dutch language competence on the minimal level B2 - CEFR is required.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam, Student performance

Carrying out homework tasks and other assignments systematically, being active during the seminars, passing the final written test minimally with 70 % result.
