Course content
The course is divided into 12 structured lessons that are also put into moodle in the form of powerpoints. Lessons: 1) Introduction and Middle Ages. 2) High Middle Ages. 3) Late Middle Ages. 4) The Renaissance. 5) Around the Revolt. 6) Golden Age. 7) Enlightenment. 8) Nineteenth century. 9) Beginning of the 20th century and interwar. 10) Fifties. 11) Sixties and seventies. 12) Newest period. The course is taught in Dutch.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course Starší literatura 1 is to give students an overview of Dutch literature from its beginnings to the present day. In this semester we repeat the introductory (Czech) course Úvod do nizozemské a vlámské literatury from the first study year.
During the course, the students' overview of Dutch and Flemish literature is deepened.
Prerequisites
Successful completion of the introductory course Úvod do nizozemské a vlámské literatury from the first year of study, as well as having read (in the first year of study) 10 books in Czech or Slovak translation. Knowledge of Dutch at ERK A2 level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio, Written exam

- Regular presence in the lessons (maximum of 2 absences per semester are allowed) - Monthly reading of at least one literary book in Dutch and handing in a reading report (8 October, 5 November, 3 December 2021 and 7 January 2022). - Taking the final test at the end of the semester. - Intermediate tests will also be given during the semester
