Course content
Cranial nerve affections - inflammations, tumours, neuropathies, traumatic lesions, craniocerebral and orofacial injuries. Differential diagnosis and therapy of headache and orofacial pain (migraine, neuralgia, syndrome of intracranial hypertension). Other neurological disorders - orofacial presentation extrapyramidal disorders, myopathy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, myasthenia gravis. The most common neurological emergencies - acute stroke, epilepsy and other attacks. Overview of other neurological disorders part. 1. - multiple sclerosis, myopathy, peripheral nerves, spinal cord. Overview of other neurological disorders pat 2. - spine and intervertebral discs disorders, neurometabolic and neurodegenerative disorders, tumours and inflammations of the nervous system.

Learning outcomes
The subject deals with the current issues of neurology, syndromology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis and treatment of neurological disorders in relationship with dentistry. Cranial nerves affections - inflammations, tumours, neuropathies, traumatic lesions, craniocerebral and orofacial injuries. Differential diagnosis and therapy of headache and orofacial pain (migraine, neuralgia, syndrome of intracranial hypertension). Overview of orofacial presentation of other neurological disorders (i.e. myopathy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, extrapyramidal disorders, myasthenia gravis). Overview of the most common neurological emergencies (acute stroke, epilepsy, etc.). Brief survey of other chapters of neurology (disorders of muscles, peripheral nerves, spinal cord, spine and intervertebral discs, neurometabolic, neurodegenerative and demyelinating disorders, tumours and inflammations of the nervous system etc.).
The students learn how to perform the examination of cranial nerves and basic neurological status with the aim to understand the consequence between dentistry and neurological disorders. After graduation, students will be able to implement the acquired knowledge in practice.
