Course content
The teaching consists of the seminars. Basic knowledge of neurosurgery of the planned seminars topics is required. The practical training primarily includes discussion about diagnostic and treatment strategy of individual patient cases. Neurosurgical approaches to the intracranial space and the spinal canal. Trauma of the brain and skull: Fracture of the skull, Traumatic intracranial haematomas, Intensive care in patients with craniocerebral trauma. Intracranial tumors: Malignant intracranial tumors, Benign intracranial tumors, Tumors of the sellar region, Pediatric intracranial tumors. Cerebral vessel diseases: Intracranial aneurysma, AV Malformation, Extracranial internal carotid stenosis and occlusion. Spine and spinal cord injury. Tumors of the spine, the spinal canal and the spinal cord. Degenerative spine disease. Intracranial and spinal inflammatory disease: Brain abscess, Subdural empyema, Discitis, Intraspinal abscess. Surgical treatment of the pain: Trigeminal nerve neuralgia. Stereotactic neurosurgery. Peripheral nerve injury. Peripheral nerve tumors. Congenital, developmental defects of CNS Hydrocephalus.

Learning outcomes
Teaching field of neurosurgery, knowledge about the operational diagnoses and surgical treatment, knowledge of pathophysiology of the disease, diagnostic methods and clinical examination of the patient.
Basic orientation in neurosurgical diagnoses, their investigations and treatment options.
Prerequisites
Completing the course prerequisites. Basic orientation in neurological symptomes, diagnoses, syndromes and their investigations.

Dialog

100% attendance at seminars. Block of seminars ends with an oral examination (colloquium).
