Course content
|
The course analyzes economic development of less developed countries. The focus is on understanding of economic approach to development issues and the role of national and international policies. Together with follow-up course MRS/REP2 the topics are divided into four parts: (1) concept, measurement and theories of economic develoment and growth; (2) poverty, inequality, and human resources (population, education, and health); (3) structural transformation of developing economies and their engagement in international trade; (4) domestic and foreign financing of development.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to introduce students to economic approach to development of less developed countries.
Students understand the issues related to socio-economic development of less developed countries.

Prerequisites
|
The course assumes the knowledge of introductory economics (at a level of course MRS/ZEK).
