Course content
|
The tuition will focus both on structural and constitutional aspects of EU external relations law and also on the EU relationship to selected parts of the world. Consequently, students will have a chance to acquire an overall apprehension of the EU activities in the world. In this way the course will supplement other subjects focused on EU law and international relations. The tuition will deal with the following topics: structure of the EU external relations law, delimitation of EU competences vis-?-vis competences of Member States, tasks of EU and Member States in external relations, EU common commercial policy, EU-WTO relations, foreign, security and defence policy, EU relations to individual regions of the world, system of EU external relations agreements, EU neighbourhood policy, human rights in external relations.

Learning outcomes
|
The course will focus on legal aspects of external relations law of the European Union as concerns both its theoretical dimension, EU primary law, relation to the constitutional law of the Member States and also its practical application in various regions of the world. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students in this course will acquire knowledge and competences necessary to grasp the EU external activities and also the application of EU external relations norms in the national/Czech legal order. The graduates of this course will increase their competences for jobs at central administration authorities, courts, advocacy and also international field.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance
Students will be required to participate in seminars in the extent set by the course leader and to present their seminar paper during the course. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
