Learning outcomes
The course objectives are to introduce students to the complex issues of so-called Social Law of the European Union. This is a new area of legal theory and practice that has developed steadily as an response to the perpetual deepening of the European economic integration. Building of the internal market, particularly in the context of free movement of persons, required to launch cooperation in the framework of social policy, social security and labor law. Protection of social rights, moreover, thanks to the legally binding force of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the EU became an important constitutional topic. The course offers students both the theoretical foundations and basic overview of developments and issues in the context of European social law (lectures) and also inside look at the specific tools and practices (focused on the CJEU case-law) in selected issues (seminars).

Completion of this course is not conditional upon completion of some other courses.

Student performance

It is essential that those students who would like to get the credit must have an active attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and they also must succeed in the written test.
