Preferred genres in children's and youth reading, value anchoring, reading habits Social, environmental, psychological and identity themes in contemporary literature Contemporary fairy tales, fantasy, dystopia, comics and hybrid genres Specificities of translation production and cultural contexts of reception Literary text vs. film adaptation - comparative and interpretative approaches The role of fiction in the axiological development of children and adolescents Contemporary literary criticism, professional journals and portals (Rozumíme si, Plav, IBBY, etc.) Literature as a tool for personal development and media literacy

Learning outcomes |
The subject follows the course Contemporary Literature for Children and Youth 1 and focuses on the current development of Czech and world literature for children and youth. It follows dominant genre lines, thematic and stylistic changes, reflection of social challenges and interdisciplinary overlaps. It emphasizes the value function of literature, its influence on the axiological development of the reader and the didactic potential of contemporary production. Attention is also paid to intermedial transpositions (especially film adaptations), reader reception and the development of literary criticism.
After completing the course, the student will be able to: evaluate development trends in contemporary Czech and world literature for children and young people; analyze and interpret selected contemporary texts in a broader literary and cultural context; assess the quality and value potential of contemporary literary production, including translation; take into account the didactic potential of current literary works with regard to the objectives of the RVP ZV; reflect on the differences between literary texts and their film adaptations; orient themselves in professional reflection and current critical discourses; use available information sources for their own research or pedagogical work. |

Mark, Oral exam, Student performance, Seminar Work, Written exam
Active participation in seminars, credit test (knowledge of key concepts, authors, works, tendencies), oral exam (synthesis of knowledge, application to specific texts), submission of seminar paper according to the criteria listed below. Requirements for students with ISP: The student submits the seminar paper: The length of the seminar paper is set at 4 standard pages (Times New Roman font, size 12, line spacing 1.5, justified) + title page (name, surname, field of study, year of study). |
